Product Description

Shortly before the war of 1812 2 new stars were added to Betsy Ross's 13-star design to represent new colonies. This new design was seen flying triumphantly over Fort McHenry after bombardment by British ships in Chesapeake Bay, and became known as the Star Spangled Banner after the words to the American National Anthem were penned by lawyer and amateur poet Francis Scott Key.

This is one of my most favorite flags from our Nations Great History... From a time when the people of our Nation were more resolute and had seemingly greater clarity of mind.. a time when Americans were much more UNITED against the determined and "recognized" enemy of the United States.. So unlike today.. But the lovers of America are still out there, much to the chagrin of some of her own Countrymen. We will fly this on September 11 in honor of our Countrymen in the War of 1812 and our Citizens murdered cowardly, in 9-11-2001..

It is an $8 flag. The stars are not canted correctly, as was the design for a true War of 1812 Flag. However, it does have the correct number of stripes (15), which many other vendors do not have. Instead, their so-called 1812 war flags have 13 stripes, which never existed on the American flag of the 1812 era. I consider that these flags are almost always imported from China, which does not understand the uniqueness of the 1812 era flag. This will be on display inside my home and is an adequate representation. If you want a truly official 1812 flag, sometimes referred to as the "Star Spangled banner" flag, you should order from a historical society, although it will cost you considerably more.
